Mourinho help Portugal ?

MADRID (AFP) – Jose Mourinho said Friday he would like to accept an invitation to take charge of Portugal's national team for their next two Euro 2012 qualifiers but it depends on Real Madrid giving their blessing.

"I don't say no but I am the coach of Real Madrid and I have a contract for the next four years. I was not capable of saying no. I leave it up to Real Madrid to decide," the Portuguese coach told a news conference.

Portuguese national federation president Gilberto Madail met with Mourinho on Thursday in Madrid to try to convince him to take over for the qualifiers at home to Denmark on October 8 and away to Iceland four days later.

Portugal have had a poor start to their qualifying campaign, with a 4-4 home draw against Cyprus and a 1-0 defeat in Norway that have left them second from bottom of Group H.

They have been without a coach since the federation earlier this month sacked Carlos Queiroz after he was suspended for six months for insulting anti-doping agents before the World Cup.

Senate passes long-stalled small business bill

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Senate passed a long-stalled measure on Thursday that would boost lending to small businesses, giving President Barack Obama's Democrats one of their last chances before November elections they are working to revive the sluggish economy.
The 61 to 38 vote sends the measure back to the House of Representatives, which has passed a similar bill and is expected to approve the Senate's version as soon as next week.
With the unemployment rate stuck at 9.6 percent, voters cite jobs and the economy as their top concern and say Obama has not done enough on these issues.
Republicans are poised to rack up big gains in the November 2 elections and could win control of one or both chambers of Congress.

Ganesha Statues

Lord Ganesha is the God of Wisdom and Success, one of the most popular Hindu Gods. As the God of Success, his image is to be worshipped before any other gods during Hindu rituals. He is also the God of education, knowledge, wisdom, literature, and the fine arts.

The four arms indicate that the Lord is omnipresent and omnipotent while the lower right hand is shown in a blessing pose signifying that Ganesha always blesses his devotees. However, Ganesha is often depicted holding a noose in one hand, which symbolizes man's attachment to material desire.

Afghan Girl (photos) describe Steve McCurry long & varied career.

A nameless green-eyed Afghan girl is one of the most well-known in the world and put a human face on an evil conflict. American documentary, photographer Steve McCurry was catapulted to fame when his image elegance the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985. A year later he was signed to prominent photographic agency Magnum and went on to triumph a veer of awards for his work. Presently on exhibit as part of a display of his work at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, ‘Afghan Girl’ has come to describe his long and varied career. 

McCurry was crossing the border from Pakistan into Afghanistan in 1984 in a while before a Soviet unpleasant when he came to a refugee camp near Peshawar. He approached the girl who was in a make move school at the time and took her picture. It was the 1st photograph ever taken of her and to date only one of 2: the second was taken 17 years later in 2002 by McCurry, subsequent a long and difficult search to find the girl, now a mother of 3 living in the mountains of Afghanistan.

McCurry told that “I had tried to find her throughout the 90s; because we didn’t have her name, it became very difficult as you can imagine; A female, a girl you know it was just very difficult and complicated and almost impossible”. Though the icon inspired an outburst of public interest ever since it 1st entered circulation, it was after 9/11 that McCurry made a more concentrated effort to locate her.

McCurry told that though ‘Afghan Girl’ is his best-known image; there are others he is mainly fond of. Many such as a photograph of Sri Lankan fishermen balancing on poles out in the sea are on display presently in Birmingham.
